What it’s like to camp here
-
Space to spread out
We have two big fields, about 17 acres in all, and no marked pitches. You choose your own spot, so you can camp next to friends or find a quiet corner, as long as you leave six metres between tents.
-
Families and dogs
The campsite suits families best, and couples and people on their own are just as welcome. Dogs stay free if they’re kept on a lead, because there are sheep in the fields around the campsite. More about bringing your dog.
-
Quiet evenings
Evenings on the farm are quiet. Hire a fire pit, watch the sheep in the next field and listen for the owls after dark. We ask for quiet after 10.30pm and no music after 10pm, so if you’re hoping to party into the night, this probably isn’t the site for you.
-
Getting out and about
The open forest is a ten-minute walk from the farm entrance, with miles of tracks for walking and cycling, and you’ll often see the ponies. Lymington is a five-minute drive away, and the ferry from there to the Isle of Wight takes about 40 minutes. Things to do near the campsite.
On the campsite
-
Showers and loos
There are six hot showers with views across the countryside, and they run day and night. Campers often tell us they’re the best they’ve found at any campsite. There are also sinks with hot water for washing up, and composting loos and urinals, which are cleaned regularly. There are no flushing loos on the site.
-
Water, recycling and a freezer
- Drinking water taps around the site
- Recycling bins for general waste, glass and other recycling
- A chemical waste point, if you bring your own portaloo
- A freezer you’re welcome to use for re-freezing ice packs
-
Coffee and food
The Baa-rista serves barista coffee every morning, along with other drinks and snacks. The farm stall sells New Forest ice cream and, in August, our own pasture-fed lamb. On some summer evenings, Burbs Kitchen cooks for campers on the site.
-
Fire pits and logs
You can hire a fire pit for £5 a night, and we sell logs for £10 a net (card only). Fires must be in a fire pit or a raised barbecue, never on the ground. Add a fire pit when you book to be sure of one. More about campfires.
A sustainable campsite
As a working sheep farm in the New Forest National Park, looking after our surroundings matters to us. All the power on the campsite comes from solar panels, and the loos are composting loos. The waste water from the showers, sinks and loos goes into a bed of willow trees, which cleans it before it can reach any streams, rivers or the sea. Find out how it works.
What’s on in August
IMPORTANT – FIRE RESTRICTIONS: Due to the exceptionally dry conditions and current high risk of wildfire in the New Forest, open fires and fire pits are not permitted anywhere on the campsite until further notice. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep the campsite and surrounding New Forest safe.
Here’s what’s on for campers in August:
-
Every morning
The Baa-rista is open for coffee.
-
Friday and Saturday evenings
The Merry Mule bar visits, for a drink and a chat with other campers.
-
Saturday 15th, 22nd, Friday 28th and Saturday 29th
Burbs Kitchen cooks for campers.
-
Friday 28th August
Austyn Brown is back for a two-hour singalong round the campfire with his acoustic guitar. It was a lovely evening last year, and we’re looking forward to doing it again.
